How have your career aspirations aligned with your passion for leadership and business development?
I wanted to lead strategy and business development for Enerfab, the division that fabricates process tanks and pressure vessels, and lead a team. I am passionate about being in a position where I can provide families peace of mind by keeping business out in front and developing a backlog to keep our employees and their families worry-free during uncertain times.
What is the biggest news in your company right now?
Anticipating the changes due to the new presidential administration and how that will impact interest rates, domestic manufacturing jobs and the various industries we serve is something we are keeping a close eye on. We must always be mindful of potential regulation changes and incoming laws that may affect the businesses and customers we serve. Internally, we are focused on our Rapid Response program, which offers our customers hope in tough situations.
What is the most important part of your position?
Staying far enough out front of trends and long-term planning is a big priority for me. Motivating our employees and keeping open lines of communication is critical to ensure collaboration between team members. My job as a leader is not only to make sure our team is doing their job well but having a great time doing it.
Are you looking to grow in new markets or expand in current ones?
Expanding in both markets is very important to us. We are working to enhance our branding and grow in new markets for diversification and expanding the ones we serve, ensuring we are serving and taking care of our new and current customers to the best of our ability.
How do you plan to address changes in the workforce/economy/emissions in the coming year?
We do our best to address the workforce through technology and modernization. We understand that what we do as a heavy steel fabricator can be challenging recruiting younger generations into the trades. Innovations in technology are important to demonstrate to the younger generation to attract them to our business. As for the economy, the challenge is always figuring out how we can provide the best value while staying competitively priced. We want to ensure we are set up to be nimble so we can adjust, adapt and survive no matter the state of the economy. Enerfab has been around since 1901, and we haven’t lasted this long without being able to adapt to change.
What has been the most pivotal moment of your career?
I spent four years working on the shop floor with the teams physically fabricating and building the tanks and pressure vessels I was selling. Learning the extreme technical side through complete immersion at work helped me understand the value of what we were engineering and creating so that I could explain the same value we bring to our customers.
