Step inside Sparkling Clear Industries' (SCI) Houston office and warehouse, and it's easy to underestimate what's happening inside.
Shelves are lined with filter housings, cartridges, bags and treatment media, while larger systems sit ready for delivery. At first glance, it looks like a company that supplies filtration equipment. Spend a little more time there, though, and it becomes clear that the products are only part of the story.
Every customer who comes through SCI has a different problem to solve. Some need a simple particulate filter replacement. Others require complete water treatment systems, reverse osmosis units or specialized filtration media for complex industrial processes.
Behind each recommendation is an understanding of operating conditions, flow rates, contaminants, maintenance requirements and long-term operating costs. Even a straightforward solution often involves more engineering and problem-solving than customers realize.
That consultative approach has defined SCI since it was founded in 1985. Today, the company serves as a single-source provider for air and liquid filtration, offering everything from vapor- and liquid-phase carbon to membrane technologies, ion exchange resins and complete water treatment systems.
The Houston facility is organized with responsiveness in mind. Products are stocked and ready so customers can quickly access the filtration equipment they need. That same commitment extends to the company's Clute office, which serves customers throughout the Texas Gulf Coast, particularly around Freeport. The location houses much of SCIs' rental equipment, and although each office has its own strengths, both operate as one team supporting customers across Texas and internationally.
That teamwork is reflected in the people behind the company.
SCI employs 25 people, and many have spent decades building their careers there. Under owner Dave Johnson, the company has continued to build on its more than 40-year history while maintaining a team with remarkable longevity. Houston Sales Manager Russ Williams will celebrate 31 years with the company this October. Accounts Payable Manager Amber Schoen has been part of the team for 27 years, while Clute Sales Manager Joey Crocker is approaching an impressive 36 years.
The atmosphere is welcoming and practical. Employees know each other well, and there's a shared understanding that helping customers comes first. It's the kind of culture that develops over decades, not overnight.
As the filtration industry has evolved, so has SCI.
Over the past five years, SCI has doubled its revenue without significantly increasing its workforce, reflecting the team's experience, efficiency and ability to scale while maintaining the high level of service customers expect.
What began as a supplier of filtration products has evolved into a provider of comprehensive industrial filtration and water treatment solutions. Today, SCI is tackling increasingly complex projects while expanding its sales and service capabilities to support growing customer demand.
Despite that growth, the company's philosophy remains unchanged.
Every filtration challenge is different. The right solution starts with understanding a customer's process and delivering a system that keeps operations running safely, efficiently and reliably.
After more than 40 years, that's still what SCI does best.
