Starcon International was founded 40 years ago with just five team members. Today, Starcon has thousands of employee-owners who remain just as committed as the day the company began. Originally performing work in Chicago, the company has grown over the years to include a national presence, performing turnarounds, maintenance, capital construction and specialty services in the refining, chemical, natural gas processing, manufacturing and food and beverage industries. Enhancements to better serve clients

Earlier this year, Starcon welcomed Mark Parsons as the company’s new president. Parsons’ experience includes more than 30 years in the construction and maintenance industry, including 24 years with KBR. Throughout his career, Parsons has taken on operations manager, construction manager, VP and GM roles — and most recently president and CEO of Tellepsen Industrial, based in Houston. His skillset, industry connections and one-team approach align well with Starcon and The Cianbro Companies. Starcon is a subsidiary of The Cianbro Companies.

VPP Star status at CPChem Cedar Bayou plant

Starcon recently achieved the prestigious OSHA VPP Star status at Chevron Phillips Chemical’s Cedar Bayou plant in Baytown, Texas.

This recognition is a testament to its unwavering commitment to safety and the wellbeing of team members. Starcon has worked tirelessly to create a culture of safety, implementing robust safety protocols and fostering a proactive approach to preventing workplace hazards.

OSHA’s VPP Star status is the highest achievement a company can earn in terms of workplace safety. It reflects Starcon’s dedication to going above and beyond the standard safety requirements to ensure that everyone within the organization feels safe, protected and valued.

Introduction of I&E services

To better serve its clients, Starcon recently made a strategic investment to renovate its New Lenox, Illinois, office building Following the renovation, Starcon expanded its fabrication and warehouse spaces.

With its expanded capabilities, it can cater to a wide range of fabrication needs to support its projects. Starcon’s team of highly skilled fabricators brings a wealth of expertise to every project, ensuring superior craftsmanship and attention to detail.

New service offering: Industrial manufacturing industry

Starcon has always recognized that diversification of its markets is important to the continued growth and success of the organization.

Recently, Starcon expanded its service offerings to include the industrial manufacturing industry. It has the unique opportunity to partner on a semiconductor manufacturing facility capital project.

Often overlooked: Capital project expertise

For 40 years, Starcon has been the contractor of choice for its valued clients. While many think of Starcon as a premier turnaround and maintenance provider, some might not have the knowledge that Starcon also offers comprehensive capital construction services.

From small-capital construction needs to large-capital expansions, Starcon has a tenured capital project construction team to deliver turnkey solutions.

Experience has included major expansion projects. One project alone exceeded $500 million and included over 2,200 craft personnel.

Capital project experience also includes working closely with Cianbro Constructors, which is another subsidiary of The Cianbro Companies. Based in Brewer, Maine, Cianbro Constructors has collaborated successfully with Starcon on major projects for many years. Cianbro’s experience as a modular fabricator and large capital project manager is complemented by Starcon’s robust and experienced craft team.

Employee ownership has also led to a wealth of experience in the company, with managers averaging 17 years of experience with Cianbro.
