Safway® Group and Honeywell Safety Products are pleased to introduce the Miller TurboLite Personal Fall Limiter™ (PFL). Designed by Honeywell at the request of Safway Group, the Miller TurboLite PFL — specifically for workers in the scaffold, access and industrial service fields — is the lightest model on the market to help minimize worker fatigue.
“We turned to Honeywell/Miller to help us develop and engineer fall protection equipment designed specifically for our industry,” said Safway Group President and CEO Bill Hayes. “This is part of our 100-percent fall protection policy requiring all of our employees who are working at heights to wear protective gear. We want to provide our employees with the best possible fall protection equipment.”
At ideal lengths for scaffold builders, the Miller TurboLite PFL is available in a 6-foot and a new 9-foot model, providing complete range of motion, while workers maintain full tie-off requirements. In addition, a self-retracting lifeline halts any fast and unexpected movements, stopping any falls within inches instead of feet. The Miller TurboLite PFL also has an RFI (radio frequency indicator) feature that offers the ability to track the safety equipment, identifying to whom and when the equipment was issued and when it was last inspected.
“The Miller TurboLite PFL, combined with the Miller Aircore™ harness and other Honeywell fall protection products, gives our workers more flexibility, while keeping them secure and properly tied off,” explained Safway Group Vice President of Safety Paul Amedee. “This is equipment our employees will want to wear. The Miller TurboLite PFL makes shock-absorbing lanyards a thing of the past for scaffold builders.
“By standardizing our gear, we can achieve improved consistency and better results with our fall protection program and further support our zero tolerance, life-saving policies. We will be able to train our workers to inspect, wear and care for just one type of equipment, custom designed for their industry.”
“Safety is our No. 1 value at Safway Group,” concluded Hayes. “We’re laser focused on identifying and reducing risks to continually improve our award-winning safety program. In addition to helping to design the first and only fall protection equipment specifically for our industry, other recent enhancements to our safety program have included hiring a new vice president of Safety, instituting more visible metrics and a zero tolerance safety policy.
“We’re also pleased to report these efforts have already shown positive results. Safway has reduced its total recordable injury rate by more than 50 percent over the past year and has decreased its rate in the U.S. refinery/petrochemical/power markets by more than 70 percent through these safety improvement measures.”
