HOUSTON — Merichem Co. has completed a process engineering package for a major Texas refiner to decrease sulfur in its light cat naptha stream to meet Tier 3 gasoline standards of 10 ppm effective Jan. 1, 2017. This approach illustrates a proven, cost-effective solution to remove sulfur compounds from naptha or butane streams to meet the more stringent Tier 3 gasoline product specifications. Merichem’s technologies, THIOLEX™ and REGEN™, were chosen to extract mercaptans from the refinery feed stocks. These technologies utilize Merichem’s nondispersive, highly efficient FIBER FILM™ Contactor technology to facilitate caustic-hydrocarbon contact to reduce sulfur and carbonyl sulfide.
FIBER FILM Contactor based processes have been licensed worldwide and successfully applied to treating problems throughout the hydrocarbon processing industry.
The highly effective FIBER FILM technologies, coupled with modules that are easy to install, cost effective and quick to market, make Merichem the refiners’ choice for caustic, amine and acid treating processes.
