COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A new agreement with Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) will allow students to apply TEEX training toward a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration.
Students enrolled at A&M-San Antonio can receive up to 42 hours of college credit for the TEEX Online or face-to-face Firefighter Recruit Academy, or other TEEX training if they hold the Basic Firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
The articulation agreement between A&M-San Antonio and TEEX was signed Aug. 11 by TEEX Director Gary Sera and Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president of A&M-San Antonio. The signing coincided with a Veteran’s Recognition Day celebration in San Antonio that featured local veterans, representatives of veterans’ groups from around the state and special remarks from Congressman Will Hurd.
A&M-San Antonio is a military-embracing institution, and this agreement represents a significant opportunity for veterans seeking to advance their careers in the emergency services field. Under the agreement, veterans enrolled at A&M-SA now have access to TEEX’s online Firefighter Recruit Academy, and they can use their veterans’ benefits to pay for the training.
