HOUSTON — Mirage Subsea recently provided a client with a solution for removing a snapped chemical injection metering valve. The resulting product can be operated as a manual torque tool. This product has now been introduced to Mirage’s range of subsea products.
The tool prevents valve breakages because of its remotely manipulator-operated torque limiting device, which will not allow a torque value that exceeds a client’s specification. The tool also has a torque multiplier that gives a better or slower visual indication of the latch lock system’s current position.
Other advantages of the manual torque tool include:
- Designed to interface with ISO 13628-8 Class I-IV torque buckets.
- Incorporates a 1½-inch (Class IV) square drive socket with eight points to reduce initial engagement time.
- Incorporates a unique internal pressure compensation system.
- As a manual/mechanical torque tool, the torque can be certified on the surface and does not require at-depth certification.
