Duke Energy Progress has received permission from state regulators to build three solar projects in North Carolina, Platts reports. A company spokesman said the North Carolina Utilities Commission’s decision would allow Duke to begin building the 65-megawatt Warsaw project in Duplin County, the 40-megawatt Elm City project in Wilson County and the 23-megawatt Fayetteville project in Bladen County.
The three plants will help Duke meets its requirements under the state’s renewable energy portfolio standard. All three of the projects will be completed by the end of next year.
