Williams on Wednesday said it had started up a new offgas liquids extraction plant serving an upgrader facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The plant is designed to recovering NGLs and olefins while reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide.
Williams said the NGLs/olefins mixture recovered is transported by the company’s own Boreal pipeline to its Redwater Olefinic Fractionator. Recovered propane feeds Williams’ PDH facility in Edmonton, and 450 KTA of propylene is to be sold to a private equity group under a long-term contract.
Williams also owns a separate offgas processing plant in Fort McMurray. The new plant increases by 60% the amount of NGLs process by Williams in Canada to 40,000 barrels per day.
