MarkWest Energy Partners is planning to expand gas processing and fractionation capacity at its Keystone complex in Butler County, Pa., to support Marcellus and Upper Devonian production. MarkWest said it would build Bluestone III and IV, a pair of 200-million-cubic-feet-per-day plants that will start up in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016, respectively. MarkWest will also add 40,000 barrels per day of de-ethanization capacity and over 20,000 barrels per day of additional propane and heavier natural gas liquids fractionation capacity.
The Keystone complex has 210 million cubic feet per day of processing capacity from its Bluestone and Sarsen facilities. MarkWest added the 120-million-cubic-feet-per-day Bluestone II facility in May. The latest expansion will be supported by new agreements MarkWest has secured with Rex Energy Corp. and EdgeMarc Energy. Rex Energy is already an anchor customer to the Keystone complex.
