-Eastman Chemical today said it had restored operations at its Kingsport, Tenn., site nine days after a power outage caused an unplanned shutdown. Eastman said no personnel were injured in the incident.
-NOVA Chemicals began using Bakken shale ethane at its Joffre, Alberta, complex. Hess Corp. produced the ethane, which was transported via the Vantage Pipeline to Joffre. NOVA in January announced it had begun using ethane from the Marcellus shale at its Corunna cracker in Sarnia, Ontario.
-Oil and gas workers earned an average 11% more per hour in April of this year than they did in April 2013, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Via the Associated Press, the oil and gas industry has been one of the nation’s leading industries in terms of pay increases — the 11% figure is more than five times the average gain across all sectors.
-Cheniere Energy’s proposed Corpus Christi LNG facility today cleared an initial environmental review by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Via Reuters, FERC will issue a final review by Oct. 8.
-Exxon Mobil today said Jerry Wascom would be appointed president of ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Co., effective Aug. 1. Wascom has served as head of North American refining for ExxonMobil since 2009. He began his career as an engineer at the company’s Baton Rouge, La., refinery in 1979.
