The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Tuesday approved the construction of Cheniere Energy’s proposed LNG export facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. Via Bloomberg, FERC’s approval sets the stage for the Department of Energy to grant Cheniere permission to export natural gas to non-free-trade-agreement countries from the Corpus Christi terminal.
The terminal would have the capacity to ship 13.5 million metric tons per year of LNG under current plans. The project passed FERC’s environmental test in October.
