Williams Partners on Sunday announced it would postpone by one month the in-service date for its Geismar, La., olefins facility — which is undergoing a rebuild and expansion project — to late July. The company cited “lower than planned construction labor productivity” and other unspecified factors in announcing the delay. Capital spending on the project is expected to increase by $65 million to $715 million, the company said.
Williams was in the process of expanding its existing ethane cracker in Geismar last June when the plant exploded, killing two people. The company last month said it was considering adding a second ethane cracker to the facility.
