Total is considering building a $1.7 billion ethane cracker at its existing facility in Port Arthur, Texas. Via the Beaumont Enterprise, state permit filings show the new ethane cracker would produce about 1 million metric tons of ethylene per year, which would double the site’s current ethylene capacity. The project would create 45 full-time jobs and 3,500 construction jobs. A Total spokeswoman said the project is only under evaluation and that nothing has been finalized.
