Houston-based G2X Energy on Tuesday announced it would move forward with the construction of a 1.4-million-ton-per-year methanol plant in Lake Charles, La. G2X GEO Tim Vail said his company had obtained all state and federal permits needed to build the plant and that critical studies and local building permits are “working towards completion.” G2X hopes to start site work by the end of the year.
G2X first announced plans to build the plant in 2013, estimating it would cost $1.3 billion. The project is expected to create 2,000 construction jobs over three years and 125 permanent positions.
G2X announced last month it had started commercial operations at a new methanol facility in Pampa, Texas.
