ExxonMobil has announced plans to add another 40,000 barrels per day of refining capacity to its Beaumont, Texas, refinery. Via FuelFix, the company is adding a selective cat naphtha hydrofining unit, which uses a proprietary system to remove sulfur. ExxonMobil last year announced it would add 20,000 barrels per day of light crude processing capacity to the refinery.
The new expansion would make the Beaumont refinery the eighth largest in North America. ExxonMobil has considered expanding the refinery to be the largest in North America, but the future of that proposal is uncertain.
