BP is ramping up heavy crude processing at its Whiting, Ind., refinery, company officials said during a conference call on Tuesday. The company announced in December it had completed the commissioning of all units associated with a modernization project at the Whiting refinery. BP Chief Financial Officer Brian Gilvary said Tuesday the Whiting refinery could process up to 380,000 barrels per day of heavy crude. CEO Bob Dudley said it was processing “minimal amounts” of heavy crude during the fourth quarter of 2013, but declined to give an exact number.
