Badlands NGL’s today announced it would build a $4 billion polyethylene plant in North Dakota. Via the Bismarck Tribune, the plant will have the capacity to convert 1.5 million metric tons of ethane into polyethylene each year. Badlands NGL’s CEO Bill Gilliam said the project would follow an “aggressive schedule,” with startup expected in 2017. He said the plant would be built in either the eastern or southern part of North Dakota rather than in the state’s oil patch.
