One year after launching its Delivering the Nuclear Promise (DNP) initiative, the nuclear energy industry has issued more than 40 efficiency bulletins to nuclear plant sites, and more than $625 million in savings have been identified across the industry.
Since the campaign began in late 2015, industry working groups have identified opportunities to improve operating effectiveness at nuclear plant sites, and efficiency bulletins detailing these improvement opportunities have been issued to all nuclear plant operators. A total of 42 bulletins were released in 2016.
Duke Energy Corp.'s DNP fleet coordinator Tom Natale said the initiative has resulted in a "huge reduction" in administrative burdens related to corrective action programs and in the elimination of redundant meetings. Of those bulletins with due dates, more than 95 percent have been implemented.
