Flint Hills Resources agreed to acquire an ethanol plant in Camilla, Ga., from Southwest Georgia Ethanol. The plant, which can produce up to 100 million gallons of ethanol per year, will be Flint Hills’ seventh ethanol facility and its first outside the Midwest.
“The Camilla plant is a premier destination for corn in southwest Georgia,” said Flint Hills CEO Brad Razook. “The plant is well-positioned for success and is supported by a professional and dedicated workforce.”
The plant produces dried distillers grains and non-food grade corn oil in addition to ethanol. It opened in 2008 and employs about 60 people. The acquisition would bring Flint Hills’ annual ethanol production capacity to approximately 750 million gallons.
