BP shut down one of the three crude distillation units at its Whiting, Ind., refinery earlier this week as a result of a malfunction, Reuters reports. It was reported on Thursday that the repairs would take “a few days.” It is the second upset at the refinery this week — on Monday, a compressor in an FCCU pollution-reduction system malfunctioned. That incident did not affect production.
The Whiting refinery is one of 12 in the U.S. affected by the refinery workers’ strike.
