FREEPORT, Texas — BASF is one of this year’s recipients of the annual Pinnacle Award presented by Union Pacific Railroad for chemical transportation safety during the year 2012.
The award recognizes Union Pacific customers who achieve zero nonaccident releases for regulated hazardous material shipments in the previous year. BASF handled 2,003 hazardous material shipments in 2012 without an incident on the Union Pacific rail system. Mundy Co. associates load and prepare rail car shipments for BASF and share in this award with BASF.
Two BASF Freeport site employees were also recently appointed by BASF North America’s top executives as BASF Regional Experts — Technology Track. They are Monte Peterson of Pearland, engineering associate, and Mike Schiefen of Lake Jackson, power distribution maintenance manager.
Each year in North America, new regional experts are nominated by their respective job communities and are approved by the North America Executive Committee.
