BP said its refinery in Whiting, Ind., was still in operation after a Wednesday night compressor explosion triggered a fire. Via FuelFix, BP’s in-house fire department extinguished the fire about two hours after the explosion occurred. No injuries were reported, but one worker was taken to the hospital as a precaution and was later released. BP said the incident would have a minimal impact on production.
Earlier this year an oil leak at the Whiting refinery sent between nine and 18 barrels of crude into Lake Michigan.
