Black smoke seen by people around Houston Monday afternoon was coming from TPC Group Houston operations, where a power outage caused unusual flaring at the plant, the company said.
TPC Group said the outage happened at its facility at 8600 Park Place Blvd. The company sent a courtesy notification to neighbors shortly before 3 p.m.
“We do not expect any impact to our employees, industrial or community neighbors,” TPC Group said in the notice.
