AmQuip Crane Rental LLC is a leading provider of crane rentals and related services in the United States. With its highly trained experts and a comprehensive selection of products, AmQuip is able to safely complete even the most difficult jobs with ease. The company operates and maintains one of the most expansive and modern crane rental fleets in the business. With 11 locations throughout the United States and one of the largest employers of operating engineers in the country, AmQuip’s team can safely provide you with what you want, when you want it and where you need it.
One company AmQuip has been working with closely is PBF Energy and its Delaware City, Del., refinery. PBF Energy acquired the refinery from Valero in December 2010 and AmQuip has been working at the refinery since PBF purchased it.
“From a business standpoint, AmQuip has been a good partner to us,” said Delaware City Refinery Manager Herman Seedorf. “We’ve tried to do some different things to make the refinery more reliable and efficient and AmQuip has been receptive when we’ve thrown ideas their way. AmQuip has contributed to the overall success of this refinery.”
“Since PBF Energy purchased the refinery, we have only used AmQuip,” said Chuck Mack, maintenance manager of PBF Energy’s Delaware City refinery. “The company provides all of the lifting equipment we use here. Whether they’re large or small cranes, all cranes come through AmQuip. At the peak, we probably have 25 of AmQuip’s cranes at the refinery. But the company always has a minimum of eight operators and four cranes here.”
Mack has used AmQuip off and on during his 30 years in the industry but said it’s quite simple why AmQuip is an exceptional choice.
“The company has an excellent variety of equipment, which is well maintained and competitively priced,” he said. “AmQuip will bring a piece of equipment on site, you know it’ll do its job and it’ll never break down. AmQuip has it locally so it is readily available.”
AmQuip provides engineered solutions and state-of-the-art equipment for heavy transportation and heavy rigging. The scope of its services include, but are not limited to, transporting and setting turbines, generators and transformers; as well as constructing heat recovery steam generators of combined cycle plants, steam drums and duct work.
“We’re currently in a major turnaround where a good portion of the refinery is down and AmQuip is supplying 100 percent of the lifting equipment,” Mack said. “AmQuip also provides all of our crane operating engineers. We keep coming back to AmQuip.”
Safety
The safety of products and the people who use them is AmQuip’s No. 1 value. The company’s dedicated staff is committed to ensuring its equipment is consistently updated and meticulously maintained. In addition, AmQuip’s crane operators are tested and certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).
AmQuip’s aggressive commitment to safety is recognized across the industry. In 2012, the company earned 34 safety awards including the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association’s Crane Rental Service Safety Award for exemplary safety performance while performing maintenance work at the Delaware City refinery and Enerfab Inc.’s J.S. Cooper Power Plant in Kentucky.
“The company’s safety performance here has been exemplary,” Mack said. “We have a ‘business partnership’ with AmQuip and we foresee this continuing. PBF Energy’s sister refinery in Paulsboro, N.J., has this partnership as well.”
Also, one of AmQuip’s proudest achievements is when it earned the Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence. The Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence recognizes successful employer/employee safety programs that produce tangible safety improvements. AmQuip is the only crane rental company to have ever earned this award.
AmQuip now has facilities in Atlanta, Ga.; Bensalem, Marcus Hook and Pittsburgh, Penn.; Boston, Mass.; Carteret, N.J.; Nashville, Murfreesboro and Memphis, Tenn.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Birmingham, Ala.; and Dallas, Texas.
