FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Following inspections and a recent update for SWS Environmental Services (SWSES) through the Coast Guard’s Response Resource Inventory system, SWSES is certified in Group V capabilities. As of January, there are only 15 out of 116 Oil Spill Removal Organizations (OSRO) the Coast Guard has classified as an OSRO with Group V capabilities.
Group V capabilities are, by definition, “recovering or facilitating recovery of sunken oil and/or oils heavier than water.” SWSES maintains this classification and performs high-level work on rivers throughout the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, eastern seaboard, Texas and inland up to the Ohio
River Valley.
