DAVENTRY, United Kingdom — Hi-Force’s manufacturing facility has completed the build of two special 550-ton, 8-inch hollow piston cylinders. The cylinders were designed by Hi-Force Design Engineer Charlie Watts to meet the exacting requirements of the end users. All the components were machined in-house on the new SL603 Mori Seiki CNC Lathe machine and the team even managed to complete the job two weeks ahead of schedule, highlighting the efficiencies of the manufacturing process at the Hi-Force head office.
Commenting on this achievement, Operations Director Chris Dickinson said, “These are by far the biggest hollow cylinders we have produced to date, but still well within our new machine’s capacity so I don’t expect them to hold the record for long.”
