HOUSTON — Walter Smith from Southeastern Oklahoma State University was the first recipient of FabEnCo Inc.’s “LaCook Investment for Excellence” (LIFE) in Occupational Safety & Health Scholarship. He received his award during American Society of Safety Engineers’ 120th Annual Conference & Exposition held in Atlanta.
The endowment, established in 2012 by former FabEnCo CEO David LaCook to honor his father Hardy LaCook’s many contributions to the safety industry, annually awards a $4,000 scholarship to a student pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. degree in the occupational safety, health and environmental field with priority given to ASSE Gulf Coast Chapter student members and/or ASSE Region III student members.
