Affiliated Power Services (APS) built a bridge — one step at a time — to serve the boiler needs of the commercial, industrial and marine markets along the Gulf Coast.
APS began in 2007 with the purchase of a well-established industrial boiler service company in Houston and another in Dallas in 2009. The latter added online part sales, boiler leasing, rentals and sales and enabled APS to serve the North and South Texas markets as well as Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Shortly after, a commercial boiler business and a marine service company, both based in Houston, were added.
APS’ Marine Division serves ship, boat and barge owners along the Houston Ship Channel, Gulf Coast and the Inter and Intra Coastal Waterways. APS has a heavy presence in barge heater repairs.
“With Houston/Gulf and Dallas/Fort Worth yards, we can provide quicker response for rental boiler needs,” said Steve Peddicord, APS president. “The APS Rental Boiler Team provided rental boilers to New York after the Hurricane Sandy destruction, and we are shipping rental units all across the United States.
“The boiler units are available in mobile trailers and where space is limited, we offer skid mounted boilers. We also can provide steam and water hoses for a quicker installation as well as manpower for installation and start-up.”
The units range from 15 horsepower to 200,000 pounds per hour.
APS’ Commercial Division provides burner and control services.
“We are committed to the fast, reliable, safe service of steam and hot water systems,” said Lee Kelley, general manager. “We are well versed in repairing and installing boilers, burners and controls from both a mechanical and technical standpoint. Our management and sales team work closely with our technicians, mechanics and customers to ensure all jobs are performed promptly and efficiently.”
Refractory is a heat-resistant material used in lining furnaces and boilers.
“Our refractory team has been toned and developed into a well-defined addition,” said Kemo Ferguson, refractory manager. “With the purchase of a new gunite machine, we have expanded once again to reach the customer’s turnkey solution. Our team is made of employees with decades of experience to provide the best the industry has to offer.
“With more than 35 years of refractory experience, I was assigned the task of building a refractory division. The craftsmen I brought with me have a combined experience of 70 years. We continue to build this division with gunite craftsmen and additional equipment. I continue to look for craftsmen in the refractory field to achieve growth through innovative thinking and ideas.”
On-line leak sealing is an ideal solution to repair leaks to gas, steam and water lines when it is economically unfeasible to shut your process down.
“I had an opportunity to develop an on-line leak sealing division with APS,” said Johnny Cantu, manager of the Leak Sealing Division. “I developed a business plan and brought colleagues who shared the same vision — to serve our customers with safe, quality and timely repair solutions to meet their specific needs and budget.”
APS is also capable of handling international logistics and support and can work on all boilers, any size, no matter where.
