According to Timothy Dove, President and Chief Executive Officer, Pioneer Natural Resources the shale play in the Permian Basin is “demonstrably different” from any other shale play that greatly impacted Texas and the United States, or even the world.
“The Permian Basin cannot be replicated anywhere in the United States. That’s a given,” Dove said, addressing delegates at CERAWeek by IHS Markit held recently in Houston, Texas. “There’s a lot of areas around the world that would love to have the opportunity to develop this shale play, but they don’t have the infrastructure requirements, the land ownership opportunities or the service companies that allow them to do so. So we have the golden goose right before us, and it’s our job as operators to perform at a very high level of efficiency to bring this to bear.”
Mark Little, Chief Operating Officer for Suncor Energy; Sara Ortwein, President of XTO Energy and Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Baker Hughes joined Dove on the panel titled “North American Oil: The supply disrupter.” Dr. Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman and IHS Markit and Chairman, CERAWeek, moderated the session.
