The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the construction of the Lake Charles LNG project by BG Group and Energy Transfer Partners. The companies are expected to make final investment decisions on the project in 2016, and first LNG exports are expected in 2020.
BG and Energy Transfer have already received conditional approval from the Department of Energy to export up to 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
FERC has now approved seven LNG export terminals in the U.S. — four of which are located in southwestern Louisiana.
