Phillips 66 has filed for a permit to build a condensate splitter at its Sweeny, Texas, refinery, Reuters reports. The company said in March it was conducting preliminary engineering on such a unit. A Phillips 66 spokesman on Monday said the splitter, a crude and condensate pipeline and a second fractionator at the Sweeny refinery were in the engineering, design and permitting phase.
Phillips 66 is one of several companies considering building splitters despite the federal government’s recent decisions to allow companies to export condensate that has only been run through a stabilizer.
