Pembina Pipeline on Monday said it would build a $400 million, 55,000-barrels-per-day propane-plus fractionator at its existing Redwater fractionation facility in Alberta. It will be the third fractionator at the Redwater facility, and will use design and engineering work done for the previous two units, one of which will be online next year. Once all three are in service, the Redwater complex will be the largest fractionation facility in Canada. The fractionator announced today is expected to come online in 2017.
Pembina is also planning to invest $60 million on a new high vapor pressure pipeline lateral that will extend the natural gas liquids gathering potential of its Brazeau pipeline in south-central Alberta. The new line, expected to be in service in 2015, will deliver ethane-plus natural gas liquids to the Fort Saskatchewan area and the Redwater complex.
