CF Industries started up a new urea plant at its Donaldsonville, Louisiana, Nitrogen Complex in November, the company announced Wednesday. CF said it was the first plant to be started up as part of its ongoing North America expansion project and is the first new world-scale urea plant in North America since 1998.
The new plant will boost annual urea production at the Donaldsonville plant from 1.7 million tons to 2.2 million-3.2 million tons depending on product mix. The plant will be the largest nitrogen facility in the world upon completion of the expansion project.
