OLADE: Organizacion Latinoamerica de Energia (Latin American Energy Organization)

OLADE was born in the context of the search for a new - more equitable - economic relationship between developed and developing countries at the early seventies whose scope was analyzed by the Latin American and the Caribbean countries. Consequently, the authorities of the Energy sector aiming at joint commitments to the defense of natural resources in the Region and technical cooperation on policies for sustainable and comprehensive development and measures to address the crisis in oil prices, began an intense process of political mobilization that culminated on November 2, 1973 with the signing of the Lima Agreement, the constituent instrument of the Organization, which has been ratified by 27 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean
