PG&E has shut down its McDonald Island gas storage facility in San Joaquin County, California, after it discovered small methane leaks during inspections, Reuters reports. The company said it has enough gas stored elsewhere to meet customer needs and that it hopes to restart the facility by September.
PG&E’s Aliso Canyon storage facility in Los Angeles was the site of the state’s largest-ever methane leak. Discovered in October, the leak prompted local homeowners to relocate and the facility remains out of service.
