-Chevron Phillips Chemical began to restart ethylene unit No. 22 at its Sweeny complex in Old Ocean, Texas, Platts reports. Chevron Phillips shut down the steam cracker Oct. 4. The unit has a production capacity of 300,000 mt/yr.
-Aux Sable Liquid Products announced a $130 million project to expand fractionation capacity at its extraction and fractionation facilities in Channahon, Ill. The facilities are currently capable of processing 2.1 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas and producing 107,000 barrels per day of NGL products. The project will add approximately 24,500 barrels per day of fractionation capacity and 131,500 barrels per day of NGL production.
-Murphy Oil will shut down its Milford Haven oil refinery in Wales after all, as a deal to sell the plant has collapsed. Via the DailyMail, billionaire Gary Klesch in July agreed to purchase the idled plant, but the two sides were not able to meet all the conditions they agreed must be satisfied to complete the transaction.
-Kinder Morgan agreed to buy two Jones Act tankers from Crowley Maritime Corp. for $270 million. Each vessel has approximately 300,000 barrels of cargo capacity. Kinder Morgan currently has five operating tankers and five more under construction. Crowley will continue to operate the acquired vessels.
-PBF Energy and PBF Logistics President Michael Gayda will retire at the end of the year. He will continue to serve on the board of directors of the general partner of PBF Logistics after he retires. Gayda joined PBF as general counsel and secretary in April 2010 and became president two months later. Prior to joining PBF he held senior management positions at Petroplus, Premcor and Phillips 66.
