Alon USA Partners — a limited partnership owned by Alon USA Energy — agreed to acquire Alon Energy’s Krotz Springs, La., refinery for $438 million. It will be the second refinery Alon Partners has bought from Alon Energy — the former owns and operates the 73,000-barrel-per-day oil refinery in Big Spring, Texas. The two firms said the acquisition would diversify Alon Partners’ crude slates, products and end markets and reduce its dependence on one refining asset.
As part of the deal, Alon Energy will reimburse Alon Partners for capital expenditures related to a scheduled turnaround at the Krotz Springs refinery in 2015. The acquisition is expected to close on or around Nov. 28.
