Gas was still flowing at a Gulf of Mexico jack-up rig Friday morning after crews lost control of the well yesterday. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) reported yesterday it had responded to a loss of well control event in the Gulf of Mexico about 108 miles southwest of Lafayette, La. Operator EnVen was drilling from a jack-up rig owned by Rowan Companies when natural gas began to flow. No injuries or gulf pollution have been reported, but most crewmembers were evacuated as a precaution. BSEE and the U.S. Coast Guard are assessing the situation.
