Several businesses and associations recently came together to celebrate and undergo training at the Houston Fall Prevention Safety Day at Layher scaffolding in the Hobby airport area of Houston.
The event was a collaborate effort by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Houston North and South Area offices in partnership with American Subcontractors Association-Houston Chapter, Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston, Gulf Coast Safety Institute and the Scaffold & Access Industry Association.
The event provided demonstrations on aerial platforms, boom lift experiences, drop tests, fall rescue, ladder safety, and a scissor lift. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in the demonstrations, ask the vendors questions, and learn how to properly use safety equipment on the jobsite.
The partnership between the organizations provided members with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers, particularly by reducing and preventing exposure to fall hazards in the construction industries and addressing fall-related issues. The event had over one-hundred and fifty attendees who were able to receive thorough information on OSHA standards for jobsite safety.
