ISSAQUAH, Wash. — NAES Corp. has entered into a strategic alliance with GEA EGI Contracting/Engineering Co. Ltd. to market and install the Circumix Dense Slurry System (DSS) technology in North America.
The DSS technology stabilizes ash mixed with wastewater from coal-fired power plants. This technology addresses waste management challenges presented by the EPA-proposed rules on effluent limitations guidelines and coal combustion residues primarily from coal-fired power generation facilities.
“This technology significantly reduces water consumption, treatment/discharge requirements, fugitive emissions, risk of groundwater contamination, eliminates the risk of catastrophic releases associated with dike failure and liquefaction, and increases ash storage capacity in the existing space, which significantly benefits the generation facility, the surrounding community and the environment,” said Glen Canavera, senior vice president of business development for NAES.
