GONZALES, La. — A payout of $3,000 was awarded to the winners of the Alliance Safety Council’s recent ThinkSafe. ThinkFamily. BBQ Cook-Off at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. For the fourth consecutive year, this International Barbeque Cookers Association state championship competition featured local cookers and attracted teams from across the state as well as across the state line.
Grand Champion of the event was Danny Titus, of the team Roadtoad Smoke ‘n’ BBQ, from Youngsville, La. Adam Gautreau with Deep South Smokin’ Que, from Gonzales, was named reserve grand champion.
Cash prizes and keepsake plaques were awarded to the top three winners in each meat category — half chicken, pork spare ribs and brisket — as well as the overall grand champion, and fourth through 10th place finishers were recognized with certificates.
