“Apache Oil Company has strong processes, and we pride ourselves on the services those processes promote, but they’re not so rigid that they can’t be adjusted if the customer has an unusual situation. If a customer wants consignment or services that are different from what’s on our product list, we can structure an agreement so that is the case.” — Johnny Isbell, CEO of Apache Oil Company
Apache Oil Company, a family-owned business located in Pasadena, Texas, has been a distributor of lubricants and fuels for more than 40 years. In addition to lubricants and fuels, Apache Oil Company carries chemicals, metal-working fluids, and a wide variety of filters and filtration products for mobile and stationary equipment.
“We enjoy a lot of business providing fueling and lubrication services for large companies and international companies here in the greater southeastern Texas area,” said Bill Records, general manager of Apache Oil Company. “Our territory spans from east of Austin, Texas, to the Louisiana border, all of the way down to El Campo, Texas. We cover those areas from our one location, but we do also have other partnerships we bring to bear when required to cover the area and provide our customers with superior service.”
The organically grown company has enjoyed significant growth over the past several years with volume increases in both fuels and lubricants. Its forte is its strong presence in not only commercial lubricants, fleets and rental companies but also in metal-working and industrial business.
“We’re always on the lookout for something that helps a customer get a job done, makes life easier and adds value, and maybe is something that is new to the marketplace — in addition to what they would traditionally get from a lubricant and fuel distributor,” said Records.
It was that desire to bring customers tools that are outside of Apache Oil Company’s traditional offerings that led it to FloodSax®. The product, which Apache Oil Company distributes, is a biodegradable flood prevention device that holds 45 pounds of water and is deployable in three minutes. One case of 20 FloodSax replaces 900 pounds of sandbags. The innovative, self-inflating flood defense system is set to revolutionize the way damage is controlled due to flooding. The product is a convenient, easy-to-use alternative to sandbags for flood and spill management.
“One of the strategies Apache Oil Company has always embraced is to provide customers a one-stop location for many of their needs as long as we do it well,” said Kenny Isbell, president of Apache Oil Company. “ We’re a little unusual as a distributor in that we carry anything that is related to lubricants and fuels. That makes us a little bit of a hybrid distributor, which is where the FloodSax product fits in.
“We felt that given the emergency response capability we have relative to hurricanes and outages at plants, turnarounds, etc. — and as we sit so close to the Houston Ship Channel — it was a nice addition to our product line. With this product, we carry something that can be quickly deployed by our customers, save them money and improve emergency response capabilities.”
