Western Refining today announced plans to build a 40-mile crude oil pipeline in the Delaware Basin in West Texas. The line will originate at Western Refining’s Mason Station gathering facility in Reeves County and terminate at a new gathering facility in Winkler County. The 125,000-barrels-per-day line is expected to be in service by the middle of next year.
“Given the growth of light crude oil and condensate production in the Delaware Basin, we believe there is an opportunity to continue to expand and enhance our logistics capabilities,” said Jeff Stevens, Western Refining president and CEO. “Our unique location and existing infrastructure present us with a number of opportunities to maximize our capabilities to deliver shale crude oil to both our refineries and third parties.”
Western Refining last April announced the start-up of the Mason Station, which marked the first phase of its Delaware Basin Crude Oil Gathering System. The multiphase project is intended to increase supply and transportation flexibility at Western’s El Paso, Texas, and Gallup, N.M., refineries.
