-LyondellBasell is delaying the restart of its steam cracker in La Porte, Texas, market sources told Platts on Monday. It was reported in late June that LyondellBasell was preparing to restart the steam cracker after a turnaround that began in March. The turnaround was to be completed by mid-June, but unforeseen issues have pushed back startup activity.
-Alon USA today said crude throughput at its Big Spring, Texas, refinery has been approximately 73,000 barrels per day since completion of a recent turnaround. Alon’s vacuum recovery project increased distillate recovery at the refinery by 2,000 barrels per day, allowing increased utilization of various process units.
-Steelhead LNG today said it had applied with Canadian regulators for permission to export 30 million tons of LNG per year for 25 years from Vancouver Island. Steelhead, which is backed by Canadian private equity firm KERN Partners, plans to build a $30 billion terminal in the remote village of Anacla.
-Global Partners and Kansas City Southern are planning to build a crude oil train terminal on 200 acres in Port Arthur, Texas. The terminal will initially serve as a destination for heavy oil from western Canada. It will use 340,000 barrels of storage capacity and will accommodate up to two unit trains per day.
-GE Energy Financial Services and E.ON SE are partnering to invest in a 211-megawatt wind farm located 26 miles east of Amarillo, Texas. The farm is expected to begin operations in December and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 64,000 homes.
