The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Friday permitted the Freeport LNG project to begin building its liquefaction and pretreatment plants. FERC also said Freeport LNG could begin initial site preparation. FERC denied permission for some parts of the project — including a 26-inch unloading/loading line and an electric line to the pretreatment plant — pending the satisfaction of certain environmental protection conditions.
FERC approved the siting, construction and operation of Freeport LNG July 30. The project’s developers have not yet made a final investment decision.
