LyondellBasell is considering a new project that would expand ethylene production at its Channelview, Texas, plant by 550 million pounds per year. LyondellBasell said this project would be in addition to the ongoing installation of two cracking furnaces at Channelview that will expand current production by 250 million pounds per year. The project announced today would be completed in 2017. Preliminary engineering work is underway.
LyondellBasell recently added 800 million pounds per year of ethylene production at its La Porte, Texas, facility and is adding the same amount of production capacity at its Corpus Christi site.
