Williams Partners has resumed ethylene sales at its Geismar, La., olefins plant, the company announced today. It caps off a rebuild and expansion project that experienced several delays since a fatal explosion rocked the facility in June 2013. The expansion increased the plant’s ethylene production capacity from 1.35 billion pounds per year to 1.95 billion pounds per year. Williams said it would turn its efforts to reaching full production rates.
“We look forward now to rebuilding our reputation as a safe and reliable supplier of olefins,” said John Dearborn, Williams’ senior vice president of NGL & Petchem Services.
