An explosion and fire at Williams Partners’ LNG facility in Plymouth, Wash., injured one worker and prompted a temporary closure of the plant on Monday. Williams officials said in a statement the blast occurred within the LNG storage facility and was not a natural gas pipeline rupture. Natural gas released during the explosion evaporated into the atmosphere, company officials said. The fire was out as of 11 a.m. PT on Monday and nearly all residents who were evacuated were allowed to return to their homes Monday evening. Williams is using remote inspection to determine the cause of the blast. Northwest Pipeline — a subsidiary of Williams —owns the facility.
