A gas plant at PDVSA’s Isla refinery on the island of Curacao exploded Wednesday afternoon, injuring two people. Via Reuters, the accident occurred one day after a blackout shut down PDVSA’s 645,000-barrels-per-day Amuay refinery. It was not clear what impact the Isla explosion would have on operations.
PDVSA has suffered a rash of refinery incidents recently. The company’s Paraguana Refining Center exploded in 2012, killing almost 40 people. A small explosion at the Isla refinery in January injured three people.
